What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser so it can remember things between pages and visits. They can't run programs or carry viruses, and on their own they don't identify you personally. This page explains the cookies atomictravel.co.nz uses; it sits alongside our privacy policy.
The types of cookies we use
- Strictly necessary cookies — these make the site work: they remember your cookie choices and keep the site secure. The site won't function properly without them, so they can't be switched off from here.
- Analytics / performance cookies — these tell us, in aggregate, which pages are read, how people move through the site and where things could be better. They're the main reason we set cookies at all.
- Preference cookies — these remember choices you make, such as dismissing a notice, so you're not asked again every visit.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles of you or to sell your data.
Analytics cookies in detail
We use a third-party analytics service to understand site usage. It sets cookies that record non-identifying information — pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser, and the referring site — which we only ever look at in aggregate. We configure analytics to respect privacy (for example, truncating IP data where the provider supports it).
How to disable or delete cookies
You're in control. Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies:
- Chrome: Settings › Privacy and security › Cookies and other site data.
- Safari: Settings › Privacy › Manage Website Data (and "Block all cookies").
- Firefox: Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge: Settings › Cookies and site permissions › Manage and delete cookies.
You can also browse in your browser's private/incognito mode, which discards cookies when you close the window. Blocking analytics and preference cookies won't stop you reading the site — a few conveniences may just reset between visits.
